Journey to the Diaconate - PDC Update #2
I hope you've enjoyed the summer season. With one week of school under our belts it feels as though summer and fall are quickly starting to argue for who is in charge.
Last week, I met with Bishop Jennifer at the Diocesan House in Raleigh. She had reviewed our PDC work together with many other documents gathered over the summer. We discussed my call in great detail and I enjoyed sharing a lot from our time together.
Today, I received the news that I had been hoping for. From her letter:
It gives me great pleasure to invite you to participate in the next step in the discernment process of the Diocese of North Carolina for the Vocational Diaconate. This next step will entail your participation in the Intern program as described in the Discernment/Ordination Process for the Diaconate.
The internship period will last from now through Epiphany. Next month, I'll begin an online course entitled 'The Diaconate' offered by the Church Divinity School of the Pacific. Late in September, I'll participate in a Spirituality Retreat with the other discerning interns. In October, I will receive my internship assignment. The internship will take place at another Episcopal church. I'm fortunate to have so many here in Charlotte!
I continue to be grateful for your insight during our discernment together and your support as the process continues!
